A game Ephemera can be very proud of, and one that still shows under pressure, Bds can pull out a win.
The game started almost smack on time, each side scuttling off to their pre-destined bases. Bds chose D7, Ephemera chose A7, grabbing a handful of flags each, turrets were created, the audience watched in awe, and then boom! Bang! Pow! Ephemera hit the Bds D, within moments they were right on the door step of the defending line!
Much to the surprise of the opposing team;
“i was just standing their getting myself ready, when they attacked from nowhere, it was frightening, i almost cried” – commented one player “It was hard, but we saved the day” announced his friend. And right they were too, the excellent work by the Bds D saved the day, on many occasions.
While over on the home teams base, the alians had landed early and were firing blue and red shrapnel along with some highly explosive devices that pushed back the defence of Eph. They held well, but seveal times lacked sufficient experience to deal with the LiNgo/Zuel combo which is still one of the key most effective aspects in the Bds offensive camp.
Time passed on, and the hour was growing late, bds forces were massing in the East while Ephemera has their eye solely fixed on cracking D7. Unfortunately all they could do was destroy a few turrets, push back the defence, and oh yeah, occasionally grab a flag or two. But still, Bds stood firm against the effective lag of the Euro-domination squad. Roy later in the game was specced for his lag, by the very-very-superly strict referee Cobra. Whom, might i take this moment to say, is a great referee, even if he does forget to place the timer up!
It was a long time before anything really changed in the pattern. 30 minutes with both defensive lines holding well, the action was immense, the pressure unbearable, and sweat was dripping from the all involved.
Tick Tock ran the clock the teams were tired the ref was fired and then suddenly, somehow, LiNgo was spotted behind the Eph defence, behind all turrets, all players. Where the rest of the offensive clan attached, carry pitchfork and torch in hand they burnt and stabbed the monsterous ‘Sentry’ to its death. Allowing Thor to summon the flagging cowboy back to his beloved homeland, safe to release the flags and repulse back the oncoming traffic.
The “Victory for…” timer had hit 60 seconds, 1 point for Bds. Now 10 timer call, 2 points, and yet still the Eph 10 man cross-country travelling ‘Euro-Lag’ circus couldnt break the chains of mighty steel and conquer the shining prize, we like to call a win.
Congratulations to Bds, for an oustanding game, they worked very hard, and held off Ephemeras every attack. A very unlucky result for Eph perhaps, but something to be proud of.
